QUALIFICATIONS: A master’s degree and valid South Carolina certificate as a school psychologist. Three or more years in public education.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assesses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices.
2. Maintains case records on all referred students.
3. Confers with teachers and parents whenever necessary.
4. Consults on special educational needs of exceptional children.
5. Attends staffings on placement of individual students.
6. Interprets the school psychological services for administrators, teachers, parents and appropriate agencies.
7. Attends staff, professional and inter-agency meetings.
8. Assists with in-service training of school personnel.
9. Provides consultation and counseling with teachers, administrators, parents and other educational workers regarding special psychoeducational needs of students.
10. Complies with district, state and federal guidelines governing students with disabilities.
11. Advises and makes recommendations regarding availability and needs of services and facilities for special students.
12. Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS Salary and work year based upon the recommendation and approval by the Superintendent and the Sumter School District Board of Trustees.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation. |
