QUALIFICATIONS: Valid state license as a Registered Nurse (RN). Two (2) years of experience in public health nursing, preferably in a school district. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the direction of the classroom teacher, helps to maintain and oversee a positive learning environment.
- Assists the teacher in implementing appropriate daily learning experiences that are congruent with the approved practices for the grade level and/or class composition and aligned with the instructional mission of the school and district.
- Collaborates with the teacher as appropriate to help ensure that informed decisions are made regarding curricular planning, classroom environment issues, and instructional practices.
- Assists the teacher in providing any unique and/or special accommodations required for student.
- Helps the teacher promote a safe, secure, healthy learning environment.
- Works with individual student or small groups of students for behavior or academic issues
- Works with others consistently in a cooperative and respectful manner.
- Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters.
- Observe student on a regular basis to detect health needs.
- Assumes authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness.
- Advises on modification of the educational program to meet health needs of individual students.
- Shadow an individual sudent and provide for the student's medical needs.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS: Salary and work year to be recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board of Trustees.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation for professional personnel.
